Sharapova into round 3

Maria Sharapova beat  KirstenFlipkens 6-3 6-3 to advance to the 3rd round of the French Open.

The match started well for the Russian winning the first 2 games.  Flipkens came back to even the match at 2 all.  Sharapova went on to take 4 of the next 5 games to take the set 6-3.

The second round started with the first 4 games on serve.  The play was suspended due to darkness and resumed the next day.  When play resumed Sharapova was broken, but won the next 4 games to take the match.

Sharapova reached the 3rd round for the seventh strait time.

Maria will next play 4 time French Open champion Justine Henin.  Henin beat Klara Zakopalova 6-3 6-3 to reach the third round.
